Thoughts and Feelings that Create Scarcity

Are you starting to see how destructive a focus on scarcity can be? The more you lend your attention and energy to the existence of scarcity, the more you fuel it!

What exactly do I mean by “lending your attention and energy to the existence of scarcity”?

There are specific thoughts and feelings that create scarcity and make it grow stronger in your life.

Here they are, in no particular order:

  • Fear
  • Doubt
  • Worry
  • Anxiety
  • Jealousy
  • Pessimism
  • Frustration
  • Resentment
  • Helplessness
  • Hopelessness

Every time you start thinking thoughts like these and feeling the negative emotions that come along with them, you create more scarcity in your life.

In order to turn scarcity into abundance, you have to AVOID focusing on these negative thoughts and feelings.

That’s not easy to do, I know. Especially when you are stressed by financial problems, your natural tendency is to obsess over them and try to find a solution. But every time you get stuck in these negative feelings, you just make your situation worse.

There are two things you can do to prevent these emotions from creating more lack:

Scarcity to Abundance1) First, as I mentioned a moment ago, avoid getting stuck in feelings like the examples above. As soon as you notice that you're starting to feel stressed or worried about money, immediately shift your focus to something more positive.

You can engage in a bit of self-talk if it helps. Say something like, “There’s no point worrying about something I can’t control, so I’m going to focus on something that makes me feel good.”

Then deliberately start thinking about something that makes you feel good, something that makes you laugh, something you are looking forward to, etc.

I’m not suggesting that you ignore financial problems or shirk your responsibilities. Rather, give these issues the attention they require by taking whatever physical actions you can, but then LET THEM GO. Don't keep obsessing over them and dwelling on them.

2) Next, start directing more positive emotions toward your financial situation. Even if you have to pretend, you need to get some positive emotions flowing to attract more abundance!

There are many ways to do this, but one that always works for me is to keep affirming, “I always have more than enough money for everything I need.” Just keep saying it over and over again, allowing yourself to feel confident and happy that your financial needs are being met.

This is also a good thing to do when you notice you’re starting to feel worried or frightened about not having enough money. Just immediately turn the focus around and say, “I ALWAYS have more than enough money for EVERYTHING I need.” (Say it with power and conviction in your voice, and really believe that it is so.)

As you begin shifting your focus from negative emotions to positive emotions, you should start to notice your financial situation shifting to a better place also. You might receive an unexpected check in the mail, you might get a bonus or pay raise at work, or you may even notice you’re starting to receive unexpected gifts and opportunities.

These are great signs that it’s starting to work!

But don't stop there. It's also important to start changing your overall ATTITUDE toward money.
