Distract Yourself From Lack-Focused ThoughtsOne of the key principles of using the Law of Attraction is switching your focus from lack to abundance. In order to attract more of what you want, you need to stop focusing so much on what you DON'T want.

But I know from personal experience that this can be really hard sometimes!

If you're currently in the midst of difficult circumstances, it's really challenging to set aside your fear, anxiety and frustration and focus on abundance, well-being, and success. Even when you try really hard to do so, those thoughts of scarcity and struggle can be frighteningly persistent and just keep coming back again and again.

One of the best ways I've found to deal with this is by playing little games or engaging in other activities to distract myself. Today I'm going to share some of these techniques in the hopes that they'll help you like they've helped me.

What If?

Most of the time when we play the "what if" game, we're doing it in a negative way. But I like to deliberately use it in a positive way that boosts my energy and makes me feel great. I just start thinking to myself, "What if things went really well for me today? What if I allowed in a constant flow of unexpected money? What if amazing opportunities just fell into my lap? What if everything I wanted came together so easily today? What if I was so aligned with goodness that by the end of the day I dropped to my knees in gratitude because of all the wonderful things that happened today?" You can be more specific with your own "what if" questions: "What if I was approved for that loan quickly & easily? What if I found out this afternoon that I got the promotion? What if my boss was actually in a good mood today?" etc.

Tell a Better Story

This technique comes from Abraham-Hicks, and it's one of my favorites. There are many different ways to do it, but I usually keep it very simple and either write it down or speak it out loud if I'm alone. What do I write or speak? My story the way I WANT it to be. Rather than moaning and groaning about things that are bothering me, I start talking about or writing a completely new story, as if I'm narrating it for someone else. Example: "My life is so great! I've got so many blessings to be thankful for, where do I even start? I'm so happy that my work is going so well and I'm getting such great feedback from customers and subscribers! I'm feeling so healthy and strong these days, and maintaining good health is effortless. I wake up each morning and go to sleep each night feeling so happy because everything just flows so easily for me lately. Life is good!" (Again, you can be a lot more specific if you want.)

Gratitude Tapping

Tapping (or EFT: Emotional Freedom Techniques) is by far one of my favorite tools for boosting my vibration, and I love to use it along with gratitude. I simply tap through each point and say something I'm grateful for. "I'm so grateful for my life. I'm so grateful for the work I do. I'm so grateful for my freedom. I'm so grateful to be surrounded by wonderful people who love me. I'm so grateful for every bit of abundance that comes to me. I'm so grateful that I'm able to share that abundance and help others." Give Money Anonymously

I love to take small amounts of money and hide them in places for strangers to find. It's a super simple way to boost your vibration and start allowing more money to flow into your life. By sharing your money you are affirming to the universe that you have plenty, which draws more money back to you! I stick $1 bills (or even bigger bills sometimes) in stores, gas stations, public bathrooms, or even drop them on the ground in busy parking lots. A client recently told me another creative twist she read in a book; add a little sticky note to the money with an inspiring message like, "Don't give up!" or "You are abundant!" (The book was "Happy Money" by Laina Buenostar. I just finished reading it and it's very good! Short little guide that offers a fun technique for attracting more money.)

Meditation and Deep Breathing

Don't be fooled by the simplicity of this technique because it works VERY WELL. I use this one when I'm feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or stuck. Find a quiet place to be alone, close your eyes and breathe slowly and deeply for 10-15 minutes. As your thoughts start wandering, just keep gently bringing them back to focus on your breath. It is SO calming and boosts your vibration like crazy.

Listen to Good Music

This one is effective when you find yourself feeling annoyed or irritated, and your thoughts keep wandering into negative territory. Put on some upbeat music that you really like, and listen for a few minutes. Again, it has to be music that you really enjoy, otherwise it will probably just annoy you more! If you feel inspired, go ahead and dance to the beat; that will boost your vibe even further.

Spend Time in Nature

If you have access to a natural setting like a park, beach, forest, or garden, go there and sit for a few minutes. Relax your body and watch the birds, squirrels, chipmunks and other wildlife going about their daily activities. Within minutes you'll be feeling a lot lighter, calmer and happier.

All is Well

If you can't exactly step away to use these other techniques, just keep repeating to yourself mentally over and over, "All is well. All is well. All is well." This interrupts your negative thought pattern and creates a feeling of peace within you. I usually combine this technique with deep breathing, mentally repeating, "All is well" with every inhale and exhale.

I could go on and on but I don't want this article to get too long! :-)

Remember, the key in stopping negative thoughts is to replace them with positive thoughts, or at least set aside conscious thinking altogether, like meditation does. There are so many ways to do this, and I hope the ideas I've shared today will help you. Don't be afraid to come up with your own games either. If it distracts you and makes you feel better, you're on the right track.
